Network Stories of Revitalisation
Network Stories of Revitalisation We have an exciting update from churches across…
We want to help churches provide practical support and love to the most vulnerable in our society.
Primarily through Love Your Neighbour, and together with its partners, we have a range of trusted resources that will equip church planting teams to engage with social needs and transform the communities around them.
In 2020, in response to the global pandemic, the team at CRT launched an initiative called Love Your Neighbour. Starting with one foodbank in London, Love Your Neighbour has grown into a national network of churches and other charitable organisations working to see lives restored, communities rebuilt and to inspire a fresh movement of practical love for those in need.
Since Love Your Neighbour was launched in 2020, we’ve seen:
churches and organisations partnering with Love Your Neighbour
meals delivered
people supported with debt advice
people supported with employment training
Abdul was referred to Love Your Neighbour at the start of lockdown, he’d been out of work and had an issue with his Universal Credit payment which left him without an income.
The Love Your Neighbour team sent him an emergency food parcel, and set him up with a volunteer befriender, Sarah, as he was feeling lonely. Abdul describes talking to Sarah as the upmost highlight of his week.
Abdul also interacted with the Money Matters team who helped him re-apply for Universal Credit and financial advocacy. He’s also been in touch with the CAP debt team, and the CAP Job Club to help him get back on his feet again.
Abdul reflected on his experience with Love Your Neighbour saying, “I don’t know where I’d be without them. The food parcels were a life saver, and what’s been amazing has been how the team have gone above and beyond. I just feel like they really care about me and my life.”
